Happy New Year, friends!
Judging by the fact that our only blog post last year was titled, “Oh, it’s 2018?” it looks like one of this year’s goals can be to share blog content more often.
2018 was Scrap Paper Social’s first full calendar year on the books. And as a small business, progress can sometimes feel very slow. It’s easy to reach a milestone without realizing it. The to-do list often feels never-ending, and pausing to “take it all in” doesn’t always happen.

Luckily, the age-old tradition of sending out holiday cards brought about an unexpected opportunity to take note of and feel thankful for the year’s progress.
Two years ago during our first holiday season in business, we sent out six cards to the clients we worked with during our first few months as a company.
This past December – just one year later – we found ourselves addressing more than twenty cards to clients big and small, from individuals with one-off projects (like our first wedding invitation design!) to the clients we work with week in and week out.

So maybe we weren’t always realizing it at the time, but 2018 was pretty great to us. And thanks to our daily activity on a dozen social media platforms, we have some pretty colorful and detailed time capsules to help us remember it all.
Like the day that we finally got business cards and felt more official than ever. Or the day we started a business phone plan (complete with 17 frustrated phone calls to Verizon)… and then really felt more official than ever.

We promoted the sh*t out of our amazing clients. Traveled. Turned thirty! Drank chocolate milk at The Great New York State Fair. Photographed a lot of chicken wings and margaritas. Read 3,000 articles about the best times to post on social media. Fed many birds. Arranged hundreds of flat lays. Researched hashtags and learned how to make GIFs. Commented to each other about how frustrated we feel on a regular basis. Commented to each other about how lucky we feel on a regular basis.
We’re ready for 2019 and one of the biggest changes so far is that we’re heading into it with a #puzzlefeed! We’re excited to share our content in a way that ties in more than ever with our company name and aesthetic. Here’s a preview:

Instead of the traditional squares of photos, we’re transforming our feed into a cohesive grid of interwoven text, graphics and images; an ongoing portfolio created from photo sessions for clients, our mobile office lifestyle, and helpful tips for you as you build your social media, too.
If you don’t already, find us on Instagram to follow along and let us know what you think!
We’ll be back soon with more news. Much sooner than last time. We promise.
Peace, love and puzzle feeds,
Caity & Aurora
